STAFF BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

 
 

PRESIDENT

Peter Hutchinson became president of the Foundation on December 1, 2007.  In 1990, he co-founded Public Strategies Group; additionally, he has been the deputy mayor of Minneapolis, the Minnesota’s commissioner of finance and the 2006 Independence Party candidate for Minnesota governor.
 

SENIOR STAFF

Pamela Wheelock
will join the Foundation in January 2009 as Vice President and Leadership/Community Engagement Team Leader.  Previously she held high-level positions with Minnesota Sports and Entertainment (a parent company of the Minnesota Wild hockey team) and as a public servant in Saint Paul and Minnesota government.

Kelly Kleppe became the Foundation’s first Director of Program Operations in 2008 after serving as the Foundation's Grants Manager since 2000. In this role, she works with the President, program and investment/operations team leaders and the Board to assure effective engagement, management and internal communications.
 

PROGRAM STAFF

Senior Program Officer John Archabal was hired as one of the early program officers in 1974. In 1990, he became director of the Bush Leadership Fellows Program.

Program officer Lee-Hoon Benson joined the Bush Foundation in 1998.

Nancy Fushan has been with the Bush Foundation since 2000. In 2005 she was named a senior program officer. She specializes in grantmaking that supports arts and culture.

José González joined the staff as a program officer in 2000.

Rudy Guglielmo Jr. joined the Foundation in 2006 as a program officer.

Jane Kretzmann has been with the Bush Foundation since 1989, first as a program officer and since 1998 as a senior program officer.

June Noronha became the Foundation's first strategic planning officer in 2005 and oversees planning and activities aimed at strategic Foundation priorities.
 

BUSINESS SERVICES STAFF

Gregory Keane
joined the Foundation in January 2007 as CFO. He has almost 30 years of financial experience, most recently as CFO for BioScrip. In addition to his CFO roles, Greg's prior experience includes public accounting, internal audit, planning and analysis, corporate controllership and business unit controllership.

John Otterlei joined the Foundation as its first Managing Director, Investments.  In that capacity, he leads the Foundation’s investment strategy efforts, and selects and monitors investment managers and advisor, in concert with the CFO and Investment Committee of the Board.  He was most recently at Piper Jaffray as Head of Mergers and Acquisitions, and as Head of the Private Capital Group. 

Beth Villaume became the Foundation's Controller in October 2008. In this capacity, she directs all finance and accounting activities, including reporting and analysis, audit, taxes, budgeting and general accounting. Before coming to the Foundation, she spent the bulk of her career in various financial positions at The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, beginning as an accounting assistant and ultimately serving as Vice President for Finance and Administration.

Nancy Weidler is the Foundation’s senior accountant and has worked for the Foundation since 2006. In her role, she performs day-to-day accounting and payroll functions and has responsibility for the year-end audited financial statements and tax reporting.

Sharon Hollingsworth joined the Foundation in 1998. She currently serves as the information systems administrator and webmaster.

Victoria Tirrel is the communications associate, responsible for overseeing the Foundation's communications activities. She has been with the Foundation since 2003.

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES STAFF


Erin Dirksen became the grants management assistant in December 2007.

Freya Jacobson came to work at the Bush Foundation in 2003. As a program assistant, she provides support to the Bush Leadership Fellows Program. In addition, she assists in the grantmaking process supporting two senior program officers.

Dianne Maki, receptionist, greets the Foundation’s guests and callers. She has been at the Foundation since 1991.

Deb Novak supports a senior program officer and is also the office-wide assistant. She joined the Foundation in 2005.
 
Connie Sangren joined the Bush Foundation in 2000. As senior administrative assistant, she supports the president and strategic planning officer.

Julie Sholing came to work at the Bush Foundation in 2007. As a program assistant, she provides support to the Bush Artist Program.



MEDICAL FELLOWS PROGRAM

Michael Wilcox, M.D. is director of the Bush Medical Fellows Program and emergency department director at District #1 Hospital in Faribault, Minnesota. He He was a Medical Fellow in 1983.

Alice Sanborn became assistant director of the Bush Medical Fellows Program in 1999. In this role, she counsels applicants, supports actives and develops continuing education programs for current and former fellows.

 

LEADERSHIP FELLOWS PROGRAM

Senior program officer John Archabal was hired as one of the early program officers in 1974. In 1990, he became director of the Bush Leadership Fellows Program.

Martha A. Lee is the assistant director of the Bush Leadership Fellows Program where her responsibilities include serving on the preliminary selection committee. She joined the Foundation in 1994.

BUSH ARTIST PROGRAM

Julie Dalgleish is the director of the Bush Artist Program. In this capacity she is responsible for all operations of the program.

Julie Sholing came to work at the Bush Foundation in 2007. As a program assistant, she provides support to the Bush Artist Program.


CONSULTANTS

Wilbert H. “Bert” Ahern became consulting coordinator of the Foundation’s tribal college faculty development grant program in 1998. He began consulting for the Foundation on faculty development proposals in 1993.

Margaret Arzdorf-Schubbe has consulted with the Bush Foundation since 1993, working primarily on projects related to rural issues. She is president of Afton Consultants, Inc. Arzdorf-Schubbe was a Bush Leadership Fellow in 1988.

Kathryn J. Draeger, Ph.D. consulted with the Bush Foundation’s ecological health program from 2001 to 2008. As president of Environmental Ground, Inc., she researches and consults on issues relating to agriculture, food and the environment. Draeger used her 1999 Bush Leadership Fellow to complete a doctorate in water resource sciences.

Susan Moore has been a nonprofit management consultant for nearly ten years, having worked for a national financial services and consulting firm, a local community foundation and, currently, her own independent consulting practice. She specializes in financial and organizational assessments, program design and evaluation, industry scans and studies, facilitation, and executive and staff searches.
 
Susan Showalter is a consultant in program development, research, evaluation and management. She is the evaluator of the Bush Leadership Fellows Program and has worked with the Foundation since 1981. She is a 1983 Bush Leadership Fellow.

Margaret J. Walker, Ph.D. has provided evaluation, research and program development services to foundations and nonprofits since 1985. Marg has a special interest and expertise in using narrative inquiry methods to create oral histories for organizational learning.
