LGBTQ youth in Minnesota face significant disparities compared to their peers, especially in the areas of school safety, school connectedness, and social support. OutFront Minnesota's Youth & Schools initiative hopes to expand its capacity to provide professional development for educators on the needs and concerns of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) youth in schools across the state. This growing work also intends to expand the youth-led Minnesota Gender & Sexuality Alliance Network, and plans to engage LGBTQ youth in leadership development so they can help make their schools and communities safer, more inclusive places.
