Eileen Briggs joined the Bush Foundation as the Nation Building and Government Redesign Portfolio Director in 2016. Briggs (Cheyenne River Sioux) brings two decades of experience working in tribal government, Native non-profits and tribal colleges. She previously worked as the executive director of Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Ventures, a ten-year reservation-wide collaborative effort implementing tribally designed culture, community and economic development initiatives. She serves on numerous boards and holds leadership roles at regional and national organizations.
She is currently exploring the expansion of the portfolio into other governments in the region with a goal of helping all governments work better to serve their people.
Briggs is a 2016 Bush Fellow and has both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Minnesota.
