2013 Bush Fellow

After the last years of recession and insecurity, people want alternatives to “business as usual,” and an economic model that works for everyone rather than the fortunate few. Cooperatives have a 175-year track record of doing just that, and are now viewing themselves as a source of hope and renewal. During my fellowship I will catalyze my community’s capacity to build a stronger, people-centered local economy through the power of cooperative enterprise. My work will focus on engaging others in learning about the co-op model, connecting to the wealth of traditional and emerging resources about co-op start-ups, and creatively exploring with others how to foster cooperative economic development in our area.
