Grant for
Nexus Community Partners

Film by Passenger Productions.
Nexus Community Partners builds powerful, engaged communities of color through an unwavering commitment to community engagement and equity. The organization's strength lies in its unique ability to foster social and human capital and to expand community wealth.
Nexus understands that members of a community must have authorship over their lives, ample opportunities to grow in leadership and multiple ways to generate wealth. It has boldly defined the field of community engagement through a pioneering institute that trains government and nonprofit leaders across Minnesota. The East Side Economic Growth Initiative is an example of Nexus' ability to align the work of community-based organizations, philanthropy and the public sector to build wealth and sustainable impact. Its new North Star Black Cooperative Fellowship is the only program of its kind in the country designed to help Black cooperatives.
Respect for Nexus as a trusted and effective leader continues to grow. Nexus led a collaborative team funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to ensure that marginalized and underrepresented residents have meaningful input into a comprehensive metro area transit plan. As Nexus expands its work, the organization stays focused by listening and working in partnership with communities.
