We’re excited to welcome Tharangi Cumaranatunge, our new finance director and treasurer to the Bush Foundation! Her official first day with us is Monday, November 14.
In her new role, Tharangi will advance the Foundation's goals by leading the finance and accounting functions, ensuring controls and services are in place to protect the Foundation's assets and support effective operations.
Tharangi has been a leader in strategic and finance systems and transformative change both at individual and organizational levels. She has nearly a decade with ALIGHT (formerly American Refugee Committee), an international humanitarian nonprofit that works with refugees, displaced and marginalized communities. Prior to that, she spent over seven years in several corporate finance positions at Ecolab.
Tharangi grew up in Sri Lanka and came to Minnesota on a Fulbright scholarship to earn her MBA from Carlson School of Management. She serves on the boards of several local nonprofits. She also led and continues to participate in Stretch Expeditions with the Prouty Project to serve and learn about diverse societies around the globe.
Tharangi has a deep connection to nature and spends time outdoors biking and hiking with her husband, Milo. She is also an avid reader and writes poetry.
