Nexus Community Partners is one of two steward organizations selected to design and operate community trust funds, seeded with $100 million by the Bush Foundation to address wealth disparities caused by historic racial injustices in our region. Nexus’ Open Road Fund will address wealth gaps in Black communities across MN, ND and SD and redefine wealth according to values of the Black community, reaffirming the excellence that has always been in Black people.

Nexus Community Partners offers several leadership development and capacity-building programs including: the Boards and Commissions Leadership Institute (BLCI), which helps train Black, Indigenous and people of color leaders to serve on boards and commissions; and the Nexus Community Engagement Institute, which helps organizations develop more effective and authentic strategies to engage the communities they serve. Ecosystem grants provide general operating support for organizations that support others to solve problems in their communities.
Nexus Community Partners will develop and test a new model for supporting healing and wellness for BIPOC racial equity leaders in Minnesota through sabbaticals. This 3.5-year project will include a community design process, pilot implementation and gradual full implementation of a paid sabbaticals program. The ultimate aim of this work is to advance progress on issues of racial equity in Minnesota by supporting leaders to invest in their own wellness and rejuvenation for the work.
Nexus Community Partners has been selected to steward a community trust fund that will address wealth disparities caused by historic racial injustice by investing in Black communities across our region. This design and planning grant will support Nexus to develop the program that will distribute the community trust fund through grants to individuals. Nexus will engage community members and partners as they develop the grant program.
