Bush Fellows are bold in their belief that our world can be a better place. They pursue visions for large-scale, equitable changes that are critical to make our region work better for everyone.
We have engaged community partners in our grantmaking for many years – from asking community leaders to select Bush Fellows to funding local institutions to operate state-level versions of our Community Innovation grant programs. We want to build on this experience and do more. We are excited to announce two specific changes in this direction.
We need leaders working creatively to solve problems while addressing equity and justice. The inequities exposed by COVID-19, the reckoning around racial justice sparked by the murder of George Floyd and threats to Native sovereignty all underscore this fact.
The Bush Foundation is committing $100 million to seed two community trust funds that will address wealth disparities caused by historic racial injustice.
Minnesota Compass, with the support of the Bush Foundation just launched “Who Leads in Minnesota?” to share a holistic picture of leadership in institutions across the state.
Leadership matters. Leaders shape our communities, institutions, nation and the world. They define culture, take action and make decisions that have long-standing and wide-ranging impact on people and communities.
